Do You And Your Partner Sleep Peacefully?

It’s a nice image isn’t it? You snuggle up together night after night, drifting off into a peaceful, dreamlike sleep.

But of course we know that reality can be very different indeed. We fidget and snore, and while one person likes to spread out and take up as much of the bed as possible, the other is consigned to but a small corner of it. It’s no wonder we don’t tend to sleep too well each night!

This is why adjustable double beds are very popular. Lots of people have resorted to buying them. But while we tend to think of them as being more for the older generation, lots of younger people can get the benefit from them as well.

There are two basic types of double beds that fall into the adjustable category. The first type has one solid mattress, just as you would have on a normal bed. It can be adjusted to enable you both to sit up in bed comfortably at night – perhaps to watch television. You can also then lower it when you want to go to sleep.

But of course that doesn’t solve the problem of you both getting comfortable. We all have our own preferred sleeping positions, and if the two positions don’t happen to agree with each other, that is a recipe for a sleepless night.

Luckily there is another type of adjustable double bed that can help you out. This one has the normal divan base to it – usually in two halves to ease the job of bringing it into the bedroom and setting it up – but it also has two mattresses. Each one has separate controls so if one partner wants to lie flat and go to sleep, they can do. The other person can remain upright or in a comfortable position lying down with their mattress positioned at an angle that suits them.

This is clearly advantageous as it enables you to sleep with the mattress in a completely different position to your partner if you want to. This is ideal if one of you is ill and wants to sit up and read, or you simply find it difficult to lay flat because of illness or injury.

The one downside to these beds is the price. They are far more expensive than normal double beds, and for obvious reasons. Some of them are venturing into £2000 territory and above. It depends on what size bed you want to get, and clearly a double bed with two separate mattresses is going to be costlier than having a whole mattress you can move.

But if it helps you both to sleep better, without one partner disturbing the other, then surely the money would be worth it? The trick is to shop around and make sure you get a double adjustable bed with strong mechanisms that will last a long time. They tend to have good long guarantees on them anyway, which will ensure you have many years of good nights.
