Do You Need Storage Space Under Your Double Bed?

If you are thinking of buying a new double bed you should take the opportunity to think about your storage needs at the same time. Depending on the type of bed you want, you may have the chance to add some storage underneath it. Divan sets are typically available with or without storage in this sense, and although you will pay more if you do want storage it can be money well spent.

This kind of storage is ideal for bigger items such as spare pillows, duvet sets and blankets. You cannot really store anything heavier than that in there because the drawers are generally not designed for this purpose.

So think about whether you will actually use those drawers before you pay the additional money to get them. If you already have those items stored away somewhere else and you don’t need the additional space, don’t feel that you have to have it.

Of course if you want a proper bedstead it won’t come with this kind of storage option anyway. In this case you can either choose to keep the underneath of the bed free from clutter or you can use boxes or other storage facilities to keep things in. For example you can buy boxes with lids that also have wheels on them, so you can easily roll them out from under the bed whenever you want to take anything out of them or put anything in. Just make sure the height of the bed is suitable for whatever you have in mind to buy, before you actually buy it.

If you opt for the divan option you can often choose whether you want storage on one or both sides of the bed. And in some cases you can opt for a design where the whole of the top of the bed lifts up, revealing a huge space underneath to use for storage.

Even if you do opt for divan storage you might want to put the items in plastic bags to keep them free from dust. If they are in there for any length of time dust can be a big problem.

So you see this is the ideal time to think about whether you have enough storage available. If you think about it now, you will be as well prepared as possible for your needs in the future.
