Most of us settle for a recent looking bed – either a bedstead or a divan set of some kind.
But regardless of what the majority of us have, recent news reports have pointed to the fact that a bed is not just for sleeping in. In fact, the beds we buy in the future may be very different from the ones we are buying now.
We have got used to adjustable beds, where each half of a double is capable of being moved on its own into a variety of positions. These are wonderful if you have problems moving around in any sense, and they can make life much easier on a day to day basis.
But how about a technology bed – does that sound impressive to you? According to its American creators the bed is designed to appeal to modern day lives and the increasing amount of technology we are becoming more and more reliant on.
The bed itself might look pretty normal at first glance, except for the fact that the sides are sensuously curved, going out at each end and curving in towards the middle. But the headboard alone hides a secret – a projector is hidden away in there that you can use if you want to watch your favourite film on your bedroom wall.
You can even connect to the internet by using the bed itself! That’s handy if you like spending Sunday mornings on your laptop but you don’t want to get out of bed to get online. If you have the budget to buy this bed you won’t need to any longer.
And if you should have an iPod, you’ll no doubt love the docking station they have also thoughtfully integrated into this bed. And if that isn’t enough, you can drift off to sleep with perfectly balanced music coming out of every speaker. There are four included, with each one built into a separate corner of the bed. What more could you possibly want?
The huge price of this bed – estimated to be around thirty five thousand pounds – will put it out of reach of all but the most loaded technofreaks. But it could prove to be the start of a long line of more advanced beds that do plenty more than just give you a good night’s sleep.
As we know with many other similar products, the prices come down over time. No doubt someone will come up with a versatile technology bed that is significantly lower in price than this one is.
So if you are thinking of getting a bed that is a little bit out of the ordinary, take your cue from this one. It may be out of your financial reach at the moment, but it could get you thinking about what you might be sleeping in at some point in the future.
Just imagine – your choice of music, a perfectly heated bed, and even the anti-snoring mechanism that is inbuilt might come in handy too.
