Most people are aware that it is very easy to spend several hundred pounds on a brand new bed without even trying. This can seem really expensive and you might be tempted to try and look for something that is going to be a lot cheaper for you, particularly if you are on a budget.
But if this is the case you should think about where your money is going before you decide to buy the cheapest double bed you can find. Yes it is perfectly possible to get a double bed – mattress included – for a little over a hundred pounds. But you need to ask yourself what you are going to get for your money.
For example you should think about the quality of the materials that are used in the bed. The cheaper the price is, the cheaper the materials are going to be that have been used to make it. So you have to consider how long the bed will last if you spend such a small amount on it.
If you want to buy a bedstead which has the mattress sitting on top of it, you also need to consider what the bedstead itself is made from. For instance some are made from metal that is designed to look like wrought iron. Needless to say this is a lot cheaper than getting a genuine wrought iron bed. But will it look as good in your bedroom?
The same goes for a leather bedstead, which always looks a lot nicer than a fake leather bedstead. You can tell the difference between them and real leather will look a lot nicer as time goes on as well.
The same thinking also applies to your mattress. The higher the price, the better the quality of the mattress will be. For instance some of them will have foam tops on them which make the bed more comfortable to lie in. This is because the foam tends to mould to your body.
As you can see it does pay to invest more money in the bed you will be sleeping in every night. You will certainly be glad you did because a cheap bed can be so uncomfortable after a while, and it won’t last as long as a better quality one. So treat it as an investment – you will be thankful for it.
