We all have times when we need to stay away from home for the night. And when this happens we generally book ourselves into a hotel of some description.
Some people go for the standard chains which give you exactly the same type of room and experience, no matter which particular location you stay in. There are clear advantages to doing this, no doubt, but it can get a bit boring if you need to stay away from home quite regularly.
That’s probably why more and more people are enjoying the experience of staying somewhere slightly different. And once you start looking, you will be surprised at just how many different types of room you can stay in when you are looking for a double bed for the night!
One recent article online espoused the advantages of staying in a railway carriage. But this wasn’t just any old railway carriage – it was in Australia for starters. And furthermore, it was beautifully decorated and very far from anything you would travel in normally.
The carriage itself was one of many that are static and now used for accommodating people overnight instead of between destinations. But you don’t have to go as far as Australia to stay in one. Just one example of the many on offer in the UK is at Heacham in King’s Lynn. This not only offers the chance to stay in an old but refurbished railway carriage, you could even opt for the waiting rooms themselves if you would prefer! It certainly makes for a different place to stay on holiday.
But there are lots more interesting bedrooms you could be staying in as well. In Austria, the Pixel Hotel is all over the place. That might sound odd but it is true. Instead of building a big new hotel, it has instead utilised a number of odd locations around the city that you can stay in. Your room could be on a ship, or it could even be part of a former warehouse. There are plenty of different ones on offer, guaranteeing you an interesting stay wherever you end up!
And if diving is your thing, you’ll love the underwater hotel in Florida. If anyone was going to offer this kind of room, it would be the Americans, wouldn’t it? You’ll need to be certified as a diver to book this one though; otherwise they won’t let you in.
Art hotels seem to be all the rage as well, no matter which country you are in. These are designed to make you feel as if you are staying in an art gallery, with stunning artwork surrounding you at every turn. Italy tends to be one country that offers a lot of potential with this kind of hotel room.
So the next time you have to stay away from home, don’t just opt for the first hotel room that comes to mind. Why not give yourself a different experience, and focus on some of the quirkiest rooms around?
